I had not seen these boots before, but looked up info on them, so here's what I found: In the early 1950s, a new thermal boot was introduced for conditions in Korea, designed with two layers of rubber with a layer of wool pile insulating material in between, replacing the WW II vintage Shoepacs.

This was issued first to the Marine Corps, and then to the Army. It protected the feet from both air and moisture, due to the sealed rubber, preventing heat from escaping the foot, protecting the wearer from frostbite down to -20° F.

Their bulbous large size and black color quickly led to a new name: "Mickey Mouse" boots. The style is also sometimes called a "Blucher Boot." In the 1960s, an air valve was added to equalize pressure in the boot during air transportation.

The black Mickey Mouse boot is rated down to -20 F and is said to have oil/diesel resistant rubber to keep oil or diesel from eating the boot.

This pair is by BATA, and is mens size 10 W, and measures approx 11.75" tall, 13" heel to toe, 4.75" wide. They are very steampunk / cyberpunk / goth / industrial style - hard to find!
